Stimulating: Snowshoeing in Krimml in Austria
From the Alpengasthof Filzstein you go directly to winter hiking trails
What could be nicer than setting off directly from your hotel into the snow-covered winter wonderland? It is a special experience to stomp through the snow off the beaten track. This is best done with snowshoes. Thanks to the large contact surface, snowshoes help you not to sink too deeply. So let's get into our winter shoes, snowshoes on, sticks in your hand - and off you go. Guests of the Alpengasthof Filzstein get their rental equipment at the ski rental at the hotel.
Well guided on snowshoe tour
If you go out into the open, you are safe with guides who know the area well and who are also familiar with the current avalanche situation. Guided tours are offered regularly by the local ski schools and the tourism association.
- On Wednesday we go on the Gerlosplatte to the nature and European reserve "Sieben Möser" in Hochkrimml. The largely untouched Ringhochmoor with its many moor ponds, which are covered in winter by a thick layer of ice and snow, is a habitat for rare animals and plants.
- On Thursday there will be a tour through the snow-covered Rainbachtal. The quiet valley is a side valley in the Hohe Tauern National Park. First it goes steeply uphill, later through hilly terrain and Swiss stone pine forests.

Close to nature in Krimml / Hochkrimml on the Gerlos Platte
We were inspired by the materials felt & stone during the reconstruction, renovation and redesign of our alpine guesthouse. Everywhere in the hotel you will find the connection with the alpine and mountain world of Hochkrimml and Gerlosplatte - the windows close to the ground in the new suites, the winter garden and the sun terrace will bring you very close to nature.

Zillertal Arena: Summer and winter sports paradise
The village of Hochkrimml lies in the Zillertal Arena, which has made an international name for itself as a hiking and skiing area. We offer 400 km of hiking trails, 136 km of Nordic walking trails, more than 40 huts, snack stations and mountain inns, 143 km of pistes, 52 lifts, snow and fun parks, cross-country skiing trails, ski & winter sports schools, ski rental, free ski bus and much more!

Skiing holiday in Austria: Alpengasthof Filzstein right on the slopes
Ski IN - Ski OUT: This is a skiing holiday in Austria from the first minute. In front of the Alpengasthof Filzstein, you can head out into the Zillertal Arena ski resort: Experience 143 km of pistes, 52 cable cars and lifts, cosy ski huts and the largest snow and fun arena in Tyrol's Zillertal Valley and in the federal state of Salzburg.
Tip: Snowshoe hike to the Krimml Waterfalls
A powerful natural spectacle that shows its quiet, fairytale-like side in the cold season: The Krimml Waterfalls are also a worthwhile attraction in winter. The Krimmler Ache plunges over 380 metres and three steps into the depths, forming the highest waterfall in Central Europe. In winter, the waterfall is often iced up. From the car park the path leads to vantage points and pulpits up to the second waterfall level. From here, wonderful views of the icy waterfalls open up. Great to look at: The waterfalls are illuminated every Wednesday until 21.30 o'clock.
