Motorbike tours & Motorbike Hotel along the Gerlos Pass

Motorcycle tours on the Hohe Tauern

On a motorbike tour between Salzburg and Tyrol, you can finally take off again and enjoy a panorama of a special kind. The holiday for bikers in the Hohe Tauern is packed with very special tours, for example on the Gerlos Pass. The Hohe Tauern offers attractive motorcycle tours for bikers, which are also very popular with locals. The Gerlos Alpine Road promises a unique motorbike experience. With many curves and a great panoramic view of the Alps and the Krimml Waterfalls, this route between Salzburg and Tyrol adapts to the impressive landscape of the Austrian Alps. Alternatively, the old Gerlos road can be taken. The vantage points here are considerably less, but the tour is challenging and is very suitable as a change from the main route.

Another popular and versatile motorcycle tour is offered by the surrounding main mountain ridge of the Hohe Tauern. Bikers enjoy an impressive panorama on the surrounding routes. The Gerlos, which can be reached in two ways and the alpine village "Königsleiten" are the highlights of this route.

Motorcycle tour: Gerlos alpine road

The toll Gerlos Alpine Road connects the Tyrolean Zillertal with the Salzburg Pinzgau. The route from Zell am Ziller to Mittersill is 69 km long. The most beautiful stretch is the 12 km long, winding Gerlos Pass road. Whether motorcyclists, racing bikers or GS fans, they will all love the two-lane, top-quality road! There is a great panoramic view of the Alpine peaks, the Krimml Achental and the Krimml waterfalls.

Start: Gerlos Pass
Destination: Krimml
Route length: 12 km
Gradient: 9 % maximum
Tracks: two lanes throughout
Toll: subject to toll (current tolls)
Open: all year round
Highest point: 1.630 m above sea level

Motorcycle tour: Old Gerlos road

Parallel to the Gerlos pass road runs the old Gerlos road, which leads through forests and with considerably fewer viewpoints to Krimml. It is a bit more challenging, rather narrow and bumpy, but still bikers get action on a 17% gradient and several hairpin bends. In addition, the old Gerlosstrasse or Ronachstrasse offers motorcyclists the opportunity to save on tolls. Slow motorhomes and vehicles over 2.5 tons are banned from driving on the old Gerlosstraße, so that they don't get in your way. Caution is required, because the road is partly single-lane and unclear at some curves. In winter the track is closed due to avalanche danger.

Start: Forest in Pinzgau
Destination: Gerlos
Route length: approx. 20 km
Gradient: 17 % maximum
Tracks: partly single-track only
Toll: no toll
Open: Closed in winter due to avalanche danger
Highest point: 1.630 m above sea level
