The Filzstein hiking tip: Krimml Waterfalls and Krimmler Achental

The Krimml waterfalls, which you can see from the sun terrace of our alpine inn, are a worthwhile hiking destination. Along the highest waterfalls in Europe, a steep path leads you up to the entrance in the Achental valley. After the last step of the waterfall trail, the route becomes flat and the valley with its alpine meadows and mountain peaks spreads out before you. In the Krimmler Achental, you will find a variety of worthwhile hiking trails!

No one knows the mountains as well as a certified hiking guide! He will safely take you to the best panoramic points and tell you interesting stories about the fauna and flora. Book your hiking and mountain guide at Alpengasthof Filzstein or take part in a guided hiking tour as part of the active Krimml-Hochkrimml programme.

Your hiking pass is available at the Krimml tourist office. While hiking, you can collect stamps and thus points in huts, on peaks and at designated places. At the end of your hiking holiday, you can trade in the points for hiking pins at the office of the Krimml tourism board.

Mobile on a hiking holiday in Salzburg and Tyrol

Many starting points for hikes and mountain tours can be reached by car. In the Krimmler Achental valley and parts of the National Park Hohe Tauern, however, no private transport is admitted. There you can take advantage of the train and hiking bus or the popular valley taxis for your hiking tours.

The hiking bus operates three times a day (morning, noon, afternoon) in both directions between Krimml and Königsleiten. If you prefer to travel by train, take advantage of the Zillertal and Pinzgau railway. The current timetables are available at the front desk of our alpine inn!

The driver of the taxi will pick you up at Alpengasthof Filzstein! Alternatively, you can hop on in Krimml at the Pizzeria Cascata (car park 3). The valley taxi will take you either to the entrance to the Achental valley, up to the Krimml Tauernhaus or to the head of the valley.
