Krimml is a municipality situated in the Pinzgau region, specifically in the Zell am See district in the western part of the state of Salzburg, Austria. It is nestled in a valley basin beneath the Gerlos Pass. The municipality of Krimml comprises the districts of Hochkrimml, Oberkrimml, and Unterkrimml. The holiday region of Pinzgau borders the Zillertal in Tyrol to the west, while the High Tauern mountains are located to the south.
Krimml is located at an altitude of 1,067 meters, and the Alpengasthof Filzstein in Hochkrimml awaits you at an elevation of 1,640 meters above sea level.
The 4 km long Krimml Waterfall Trail is open continuously from around mid-April to the end of October. The Krimml Waterfalls can also be visited in winter. The lowest waterfall is accessible at any time and offers a unique natural spectacle with ice and snow during the winter months.
There are several convenient parking options nearby, reachable by car from Alpengasthof Filzstein in just about 15 minutes. From the parking area, it's a pleasant 10 to 15-minute walk to reach the bottom waterfall.
Do the Krimml Waterfalls have an entrance fee? Yes, there is an admission fee for the Krimml Waterfall Trail. However, as a guest of Alpengasthof Filzstein, you can enjoy free access to the WaterWelten Krimml and the Krimml Waterfalls if you have the Nationalpark Sommercard.
